Here at Mt. Eustis Inn our guests start their day with a complete three course organic/slow food* breakfast made with local produce grown or raised without chemicals, including fresh fruit recipes, fresh-baked, scratch made, sweet breads, coffee cake or muffins, yogurt, homemade breads, a variety of juices including kombucha and of course a special hot entrée...different every day. Our coffees and teas, too, are grown without chemicals and they are fair trade and shade grown.
*slow food - the idea of enjoying delicious food prepared with care from local, healthy plants and animals.
Breakfast is served in our dining room at individual tables or tables can be grouped if preferred.
We are continually working toward self-sustainable healthy living. We offer our own garden herbs and vegetables and have planted our own apple orchard. Our biggest challenge is the wildlife...they love fruits and vegetables, too!
We serve free-range eggs provided by our own hens, a heritage breed developed in 1865 called Wyandotte. The "girls" love to range freely and do what hens love to do most...scratch and peck. We added Louie to the flock when we saved him from the farmer’s stock pot; he is friendly and a good protector and we are hoping for baby chicks some time soon. A back yard flock is such fun and I hope you check out our blog for stories about raising chickens.
All of our meats are local raised without antibiotics or hormones and fed non-GMO feed grown without synthetic fertilizers. They are also unprocessed (no nitrates or nitrites); great tasting and healthy and best yet; the animals are raised humanely.
We believe that a traditional diet is a nutritional diet so we make our own yogurt, buttermilk and sour cream when we can; we soak our grains in our own homemade whey and make our own butter when we have sufficient cream. Our milk and cream are local, fresh and delicious.
We will cater (whenever we can) to any dietary needs a guest traveling to Littleton may have so please let us know at the time of the reservation about your dietary restrictions so that we may shop accordingly.
